About Our School

The Community Nursery School and Learning Center (CNS) has enjoyed a long legacy of commitment to Cold Spring and neighboring towns. CNS is a secular school and operates within the same building as the First Presbyterian Church of Philipstown (10 Academy Street, Cold Spring, NY).

Our curriculum is designed with an emphasis on engaging children and developing their interests and ideas through intentional play-based experiences. Through play, children make sense of the world around them, develop social skills, and gain the ability to work together with peers. They also develop qualities and skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, curiosity, perseverance, and a natural love of learning.

“The happiest place in Town.”

❖ The Arts, Science, and Social Studies

“Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children, play IS serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.”
